Management Committees for Places of Worship
A management committee for a place of worship, such as a temple, a monastery or a mosque, is responsible for running its day-to-day operations in accordance with democratic principles. Since the founding of the People’s Republic, such committees have been established in mosques to replace existing management boards so as to improve their performance of religious and related responsibilities. Since November 1, 2010, with the launch of the Measures on Management of Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries, similar committees have also been created through consultation in Tibetan monasteries. Management committees play an important role in keeping religious activities on the right track.
