Rule of Law in Religious Affairs
Promoting the rule of law in religious affairs is an important principle guiding the government’s approach to religion, as part of its overall strategy to promote the rule of law in all spheres of life. It entails government supervision of the implementation of laws, regulations and policies on religion. The legitimate rights and interests of religious bodies, including temples, churches and mosques, normal execution of religious responsibilities by clerics, and normal religious activities of worshippers are protected by law. Measures are taken to prevent and counter abnormal, illegal or criminal activities undertaken under the guise of religion, and infiltration and interference by hostile overseas forces in the name of religion. The Regulations on Religious Affairs provides a legal basis for promoting the rule of law in religious affairs.
