People get marriage certificates when they wed, and diplomas when they graduate, but have you ever heard of a love certificate? A college student in Chongqing created one for his girlfriend.

In a report by a local newspaper, Guo Chunlong, a sophomore at Chongqing Technology and Business University, displayed his work: a certificate that says "To x and y, for your beautiful love…"

"I was inspired by the pop song Love Certificate by Singaporean singer Stefanie," Guo said, "I wanted to give something especial to my girlfriend so I made the certificate."

It turned out that Guo's girlfriend liked his present so much that she suggested they should make more certificates for sale.

The cover of the love certificates is no different from other ordinary ones, but the design inside is what's special about it.

"You can write the words you want to say to your loved one in the certificate and you can also put your pictures in it," Guo told the newspaper.
Selling at 9.9 yuan per piece, the love certificates became quite popular among college students.

"It is dumb to give your girlfriend roses or dolls as presents. My girlfriend was thrilled when she received my love certificate," a student majoring in Chinese language and literature was quoted as saying.
