Lao She Museum Restored
Adjust font size:

After more than one year of reparation, the Lao She Museum in China's southwestern city of Chongqing reopened on July 22 before the 40th anniversary of the renowned writer's death.

The museum in Beibei district, used to be the residence where Lao She, the famous Chinese novelist and artist, lived during the Anti-Japanese War. Only two places where Lao She once lived remain standing in China.

The house was built in June 1940 and Lao She lived here from 1943 to 1946. During these three years, Lao She created a large number of works ranging from novels, dramas and essays, totaling more than 1 million words.

Restoration work began June 2005. All the plans for the restoration designs were approved by Lao She's family. Lao She's descendants drew the original condition of the house and sent several materials for the restoration.
