From threatened to thriving: environmental restoration of Guangyang Isle in SW China

3月16日，小朋友在重慶廣陽島東島頭玩耍。春日時節(jié)，重慶廣陽島春意盎然，一片生機勃勃的景象。廣陽島是長江上游最大的江心島。近年來，當(dāng)?shù)胤e極探索基于自然的解決方案，創(chuàng)新運用“護山、理水、營林、疏田、清湖、豐草”六大策略，系統(tǒng)推進自然恢復(fù)、生態(tài)修復(fù)，豐富生物多樣性。同時，融合高品質(zhì)生態(tài)設(shè)施和綠色建筑，建成上壩森林、高峰梯田、油菜花田、勝利草場、東島頭等24個生態(tài)修復(fù)示范地。歷經(jīng)生態(tài)蝶變的廣陽島，呈現(xiàn)出一幅原生態(tài)的巴渝鄉(xiāng)村田園風(fēng)景畫卷，成為生動表達山水林田湖草生命共同體理念的“生態(tài)大課堂”，吸引市民和游客前來感受大自然之美。[新華社記者王全超攝]

Children have fun at Guangyang Isle in southwest China's Chongqing, March 16, 2024. Guangyang Isle, the most extensive green island in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, has been turned into an ecological restoration and protection "classroom" for ecotourists and school children. The local ecosystem and biodiversity were once seriously threatened due to real-estate projects in the area.
