The International Comic and Animation Show 2013 was held inside the Shandong Library on October 20, during the 10th China Art Festival, in a bid to boost this industry and cultivate experts in the field.
The provincial Department of Culture and the Shandong University of Arts sponsored the showcase, collecting more than a thousand works from over 40 universities in China and South Korea. A total of 110 outstanding works qualified for a display circuit running all over the world. It involves three artistic areas: animation, illustration and comics, highlighting the features of Shandong's international artistic communication.
"The show can not only strengthen the communication and cooperation within the animation and comic industries among universities in two countries, but can also promote the cooperation in the entire industry and contribute to the welfare in both countries," said Do Sung-hee, a member of the Committee of the Cultural Institute of South Korea.
The show invited representatives for prize winners in Korean National University of Arts, Sangmyung University and Chongju University to present prizes. The Chinese winners will be able to take a tour of South Korea and claim their prizes there.
