Eleven electric car charging stations are to be constructed in Linyi City, Shandong Province in 2011 and 2012, as part of a drive to boost green motoring in the city.
Shandong's first large-scale electric car charging station went into service in the Jiaozhuang area of Linyi on June 23 this year. The station is the largest and most advanced of its kind in China. Between 14 and 16 electric buses are recharged there every day and electric cars have used its facilities more than 500 times since it opened.
Three charging stations are currently under construction at a cost of 124 million yuan (US$18.5 million). The three stations will allow 23 electric cars to be charged simultaneously.
Five electric car charging stations will be built in Linyi in 2011, and a further six in 2012.
