Beijing's sub-center in Tongzhou district is accelerating the development of a national green demonstration zone. The sub-center has launched innovative measures encompassing urban construction, green transport and the local economy, while focusing on system and mechanism reforms for pilot trials.

The sub-center leads Beijing in ultra-low energy consumption projects, with seven initiatives spanning approximately 200,000 square meters. Its Central Green Forest Park features three public cultural venues powered by regional energy stations, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by about 10,200 tons.

In transportation, the Beijing Sub-center Station project implements the "dual carbon" strategy and applies energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies throughout its planning, design, construction, management and operation. The district has also completed an autonomous driving demonstration area in Central Green Forest Park, where driverless minibuses now operate.

The sub-center has transformed its urban landscape with the 11-square-kilometer Central Green Forest Park, converting a former industrial site into a public green space using natural ecological restoration methods. The park has become a popular destination for local residents.

Meanwhile, the sub-center pioneered a pilot project for evaluating energy consumption and carbon emissions, while its administrative office area achieved 100% green electricity supply.

Looking ahead, the sub-center plans to strengthen its position as a National Green Development Demonstration Zone through systemic reforms. Priority areas include air pollution control, rural sewage treatment and sustainable building practices.

The sub-center is also expanding regional cooperation with Hebei's Xiong'an New Area and China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City to establish a model for green urban development across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
