Ahmed Deabes came to study in China in 2015. Funded by Misr El Kheir Foundation, the young Egyptian started his college life at Beijing Information Technology College (BITC) on a scholarship program.
During his study at BITC, Deabes worked hard and achieved excellent academic results, managing to reach HSK level 4 in the Chinese Proficiency Test in just one year. From his second year, specialized courses in communications technology equipped him with important professional knowledge and technical skills; at the same time, he continued to study Chinese and Chinese culture, and reached HSK level 6 before graduation. In 2019, he continued his studies at BITC's partner university and completed a bachelor's degree via a "top-up" program.
After graduation, Deabes returned to his home country of Egypt where he interned at Huawei. His outstanding performance won him a job offer at Huawei Middle East in Dubai, where he now serves as the digital channel manager of the Middle-East Regional Department. In 2021, he was named "Future Star" by the company.
In an interview, a human resources director for Huawei Egypt said that Ahmed Deabes received a job offer after only three months, despite this normally taking at least six months. The director spoke highly of BITC's international students for their Chinese language proficiency and professional skills.
Many BITC graduates like Deabes have landed jobs in prestigious companies and their expertise can be largely attributed to the college's high-quality education programs for international students.
First, BITC has a high-level faculty, especially in Chinese language teaching. After a year of learning Chinese, 96% students at BITC can pass HSK level 4. When graduating, all BITC students can pass the HSK 5 and most manage to pass HSK 6, which helps lay a solid language foundation for their further study and employment.
Second, BITC boasts a well-designed curriculum targeted at international students. It offers courses in such fields as communication technology, electronic information engineering technology, mechatronics technology, new energy vehicle technology, software technology, big data and e-commerce.
In addition, BITC also values enterprise cooperation, which provides opportunities for students to learn in real workplaces, receive training and acquire practical skills.
Third, various competitions, seminars and other events on Chinese culture, such as calligraphy, opera and martial arts, also enable BITC's international students to continuously improve their self-management skills while gaining a better understanding of China.
Fourth, BITC is devoted to preparing students for further study and bachelor degrees in other top universities in Beijing. Its high quality of education also attracts well-known companies to recruit BITC graduates. With practical courses taught by highly qualified teachers and an international curriculum focused on overseas students, BITC has so far prepared over 3,000 international students from 93 countries with knowledge and skills for further study or work either in China or back in their home countries.
As Ahmed Deabes said, the experience studying at BITC helped him open the door to employment in Huawei. From studying in China to working in Huawei, he feels that he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, adding that his goal for the future is to continue developing.
