Workers' Daily:
My question is for Mrs. Liu Jinhua. You devoted yourself to the development of the Party branch even when you were about to retire. After your retirement, you worked even harder and were even busier than before. What is it that motivates you? Thank you.
Liu Jinhua:
Thank you for your question. I became secretary of our Party branch in 2005, and retired in 1997. As secretary, I'm definitely busier than before, as I need to gather people to study, hold activities and help those veteran comrades in need. Moreover, our activity room covers nearly 600 square meters, which needs to be cleaned up every day. Some veteran Party members said things to me like: "What are you doing this for? You're old and have retired." Well, I'm not doing it for anything special. I just want to ensure that the veteran Party members can still feel they are part of the organization after they have retired. Despite their retirement, they are still managed by the Party. The Great Hall of the People is the place where we worked, studied and grew up. We spent almost our entire lives there. We should not leave people feeling lost after their retirement. Therefore, the Party gave us this place. Thanks to the trust and recommendation from my fellow comrades, I took on this responsibility and served for 17 years. During this period, I brought joy to my fellow comrades, and everyone feels happy to be able to get together to study. I'm happy because my fellow comrades are happy. It's true. Some people have looked at me and asked: "Why do you look even younger after all these years since you retired?" I'm delighted to hear that, as it means my efforts were not in vain. Moreover, the spirit followed by staff members working at the Great Hall of the People, featuring loyalty, dedication and devotion is not empty talk, and we must prove it through our actions. It's my loyalty to the Party to ensure the work of our Party branch at the primary level. I'll continue to serve my fellow comrades. Thank you.

Mrs. Liu has profound feelings for the Great Hall of the People and her work. Next question, please.
China Media Group:
My question is for Mr. Sui and Mrs. Liu. First, I'd like to congratulate both of you on receiving the commemorative medal awarded to CPC members who have been Party members for 50 full years or longer as of July 1, 2021, which is truly a great honor. What was your first thought when you received the medal? What do you most want to say? And what would you like to say to young CPC members? Thank you.
Sui Senfang:
Thank you for your questions. It's my great honor to receive the commemorative medal. I have witnessed the remarkable changes in our country over the past 50 years, especially the great changes since the adoption of the reform and opening-up policies. I began setting up my laboratory at Tsinghua University in the 1980s after I returned to China from abroad. There was barely any equipment, and we built it from scratch. After 30 years, our scientific and research equipment has become competitive with that in the top universities in developed countries. This represents one of the remarkable changes. I think it would be impossible to have got to where we are today without the leadership of the Party, or the strength and prosperity of our country. However, we must be aware that there is still a gap between our country and developed countries in terms of the overall development of science and technology. We must continue to strive to close the gap. Only through progress in science and technology can we make our country strong. I hope young Party members and scientists knuckle down, work hard and pool their wisdom, so as to build our country into a leader in science and technology. Thank you.
Liu Jinhua:
The National People's Congress held a grand ceremony to award the commemorative medals at 10 a.m. on June 16. I was extremely excited to receive the medal from Yang Zhenwu, secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee. I felt honored, proud and happy as soon as I received the medal, just like the other veteran Party members. This honor represents a recognition by the CPC Central Committee and general secretary of the work that we veteran Party members have done over the past several decades. It also showcases their care and concern about us. I'd like to say that most of the medal recipients are just ordinary Party members, but the Party has not forgotten us, and the general secretary has not forgotten us. On this occasion, they've shown their great care and concern for us. I feel privileged to live in this great nation, to witness this magnificent era and to be a member of this glorious Party. I'm happy and proud. Despite my retirement and my age, I will continue to contribute to the cause of the Party and live up to the standards of being a Party member. To the younger Party members, I'd like to share with you the spirit of the people working at the Great Hall of the People, which is loyalty, dedication and devotion. Whatever job you do, as long as you keep committed to this spirit, I believe your life will be rewarding. Thank you.
Shou Xiaoli:
Loyalty, dedication and devotion — Mrs. Liu's words are really inspiring for the younger generation. Next question, please.
