As the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China approaches, many foreign media outlets are stepping up their coverage of the upcoming leadership transition in China.
CCTV earlier talked to Marat Sisenovich Abulkhatin, Chief editor of Foreign News from Russian state news agency Itar-Tass. He explained which issues the Russian press were mostly focused on.
Marat Sisenovich Abulkhatin said, "What I mostly would like to know about is the new Chinese leaders. How will they display their personal chrisma in front of us? How will they develop relations with Russia, including how to handle the relationships with Russian leaders, such as President Putin and Prime minister Medvedev. To boost our bilateral cooperation, what is going to be the next plan or assignment? What kind of problems could arise between us? How to continue pushing forward our friendship to a new stage? How to gain a higher increase on our bilateral trade, so as to make our economic and trade cooperation level catch up with the high speed of our political cooperation."
