Beijing is leveraging its technological strengths in AI, block chain, internet communications, and AR to drive Web3 innovation and promote industrial growth, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission said on Thursday.
The Web3 system integrates block chain, digital currency, distributed databases, encryption techniques, edge computing, interactive technology, and other cutting-edge technologies.
The Zhongguancun Web3 Industrial Park, Beijing's first industrial park dedicated to Web3 industrial chain, focuses on core technology innovation and development. It has so far brought together over 170 related companies, according to an official from the industrial park.
At an unmanned new energy vehicle charging station in Chaoyang district, all the procedures are conducted automatically and managed through mobile platforms. Previously, three people were needed to manage a single station. "With our management platform, fewer than 10 people can oversee 1,000 charging stations," said Zhong Zhixiang, a founder of UINO technology, at the exhibition hall of the Zhongguancun Web3 Industrial Park. The company has developed independently self-controlled digital twin engines, and its technologies and products are now being used across various sectors such as energy, technology, and finance, Zhong said.
In addition, with Web3 technologies serving as cornerstones of the metaverse, metaverse applications have flourished in Beijing. Chaoyang district, for instance, is now home to over 1,200 metaverse companies.
Moreover, Beijing is actively building typical application scenarios for Web3, relying on its rich historical, cultural, sports, sci-fi, consumption, and technological innovation resources.
The city aims to further drive core technology breakthroughs, build platforms, initiate application scenarios, and promote innovation, so as to support the developing of Web3 and related industries.
