Technological innovation, green transformation and global cooperation are injecting fresh impetus to drive the mining sector forward, said an official on Thursday.
Wang Guanghua, minister of natural resources, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 25th China Mining Conference and Exhibition on Thursday in Tianjin.
Wang said that there are growing uncertainties in the global mining market and the industry is in a pivotal period of accelerated transformation.
In light of these challenges, Wang emphasized the importance of promoting innovation to invigorate the mining sector. This entails advancing the research, development and applications of new theories, technologies, methods, techniques and equipment for the exploration and development of mineral resources.
Wang also stressed the need for promoting green development by nurturing new models within the mining industry. This involves the widespread adoption of green technologies, processes and equipment to ensure effective synergy between mining activities and ecological preservation.
Additionally, he called for further efforts to promote global collaboration to construct a shared future for the mining sector, with a prospect of a more convenient and free environment for mining investment and trade.
Wang said China, as the world's largest producer, consumer and trader of mineral products, has consistently pushed for green and safe mining, reformed policies for the improvement of the mining sector and promoted global collaboration in the sector for a win-win future.
The conference, hosted by the China Mining Association, is scheduled from Oct 26th to 28th. It attracted more than 5,000 participants from 28 countries and regions, as well as some 260 institutions and companies.
