Chinese company Bright Food Group on Friday denied media reports that it had offered 2.3 billion U.S. dollars to buy a 50 percent stake in Yoplait, the world's second largest yogurt maker based in France.
An unnamed high-ranking manager in the company made the comment after French media reported Wednesday that Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd. had placed the highest bid for a 50 percent stake in Yoplait.
Since last year, Bright Food has been in negotiations to acquire stakes in overseas companies, such as the Australian CSR, British United Biscuits and the American GNC, but without success, the manager said.
Founded in 2006, Bright Food is a large food and dairy conglomerate. It has four listed companies with a total value of 45.8 billion yuan (6.9 billion U.S. dollars).
