A senior Chinese government official Monday told former British Cabinet member Peter Mandelson that Britain should sell more high-technology goods to China.
"China and Britain should continue to deepen cooperation in the economy and trade, investment and finance," Vice Premier Wang Qishan told Mandelson, the former British Business, Innovation and Skills Secretary.
During their talks in Beijing, Wang said China would unswervingly push forward the reform and opening up policy.
He also refuted claims that China's investment environment had deteriorated.
"Facts speak louder than words," he said. "More and more foreign enterprises choose to invest in China, and the scale of foreign investment in China increases year by year."
He said the Chinese government would, in accordance with international practice, continuously improve legislation and policies to create a better investment environment for foreign businesses.
China's economic growth had made a great contribution to the global economic recovery, said Mandelson.
He said he would continue to promote bilateral cooperation in economy and trade.
Mandelson was in Beijing to attend the Sino-UK Young Politician Forum.
