Liu Xinglong (劉醒龍) is a professional writer of the Wuhan Writers Association and the Editor in Chief of "Fragrant Grass", a literary magazine. He was born in 1951 in Tuanfeng, Hubei Province. He has published 11 novels and 12 novellas. His works have been translated and published in English, French, Japanese and Korean.
His first novella "Going to Beijing With a Load of Tea" won the First Lu Xun Literary Prize; his full-length novel "Sky Walker" won the Eighth Mao Dun Literary?Prize and his novel "At the Gate to Heaven" won the First China Contemporary Literary Academy Award and the Second Chinese Fiction Academy Award. Many of his novellas won the fifth, sixth and seventh Hundred Flowers Award of "Fiction Monthly", a literary magazine in the Mainland, and the "Unitas: Literary Monthly" award in Taiwan.
Many of his novel adaptations, such as, "Back to Back, Face to Face" and "Phoenix Harp", won awards at national and international film festivals, such as the Tokyo Film Festival, Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festivals.
A theatrical adaptation of his full-length novel won the Splendor Award, a national award designated for stage performances.
He is a member of the National Committee of the Chinese Writers Association, a member of the fiction committee of the Chinese Writers Association, and a member of the jury for the 29th Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festivals.
