Chinese artists on Thursday staged a spectacular show featuring ethnic dances and songs in Kazakhstan 's biggest city, Almaty.
The nearly two-hour show was part of the "Happy Spring Festival " tour by the Baoting County Ethnic Song and Dance Ensemble from China's Hainan Province.
Staged at Almaty's Musrepov Kazakh State Children And Youth Academic Theater, which was packed with a fascinated local audience, the show featured songs and dances from the Li and the Miao, two of the dozens of minority ethnic groups in China.
Speaking before the show, Director of Representative Office in Almaty of Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry Bakyt Ospanov described China's multi-ethnic culture as fascinating.
But it is difficult for the Kazakh people to catch a glimpse of it, he said. "Today, we will experience in person the unique charm of Li and Miao songs and dances from Chinese Hainan Province."
Almaty is the second leg of the "Happy Spring Festival" tour of the Baoting County Ethnic Song and Dance Ensemble. Before Almaty, the artists had performed in Russia's St. Petersburg. They will fly to Kazakhstan's capital Astana to continue the tour.
