The film will be co-directed by Wen Juan and Wilson Yip and feature Aarif Lee. The script has been in the making for four years while writers have collected first-hand information about Bruce Lee from his family and friends, said Wen at a press conference on Monday in Hong Kong. The new film will be the most authentic portrayal of Bruce Lee among all the movies that have been made about his life.
Lee told the media that he is under a lot of pressure with his role as Bruce Lee in the film. He said the most difficult part was not the physical training to build up his muscles, but to think like Lee.
"I'm really lucky to have the opportunity to play Bruce Lee," Lee was quoted as saying. "It's very challenging."
"Young Bruce Lee" tells the story of Bruce Lee's youth and shows the characteristics and personality that made him a martial arts movie star in later years.
Hong Kong singer-turned-actor Aarif Lee won Best Newcomer Award at this year's 29th Hong Kong Film Awards.
