The Canada China Art Association announced Tuesday that China Broadcasting Orchestra (CBCO) would perform for the first time in Canada in celebration of the Chinese New Year and 40 years of China-Canada relations.
The association said at the kickoff of the 2010 Spring Festival Gala that it would present a first-of-its-kind symphony concert on March 8. Ninety musicians from CBCO would take the stage in Southam Hall of National Arts Centre in Ottawa with the sound of 30 types of traditional Chinese instruments.
The concert will be conducted by Pang Ka Pang, principle conductor and musical director of CBCO, and works of legendary Chinese composer Peng Xiuwen and the Northwest Suite by the best known contemporary Chinese composer Tan Dun will be performed at the concert.
