A total of ten new Chinese mainland films will be screened from Oct. 5 to Nov. 1.
The opening film "Tian An Men" (2009) is dedicated to the 60th founding anniversary of New China. In September 1949, the head of an army drama troupe received an urgent command that Tiananmen Square and the facilities had to be repaired in 28 days for the celebration. More than 10,000 workers and citizens were mobilized. To recreate the historic and spectacular scene of 160,000 people joining the celebration, the film has combined documentary footage with computer graphics.
Other films to be screened are the love story "Red River" (2008) starring Nick Cheung and Zhang Jingchu, the entertaining "Crazy Racer" (2009), bittersweet "The End of Year" (2008), urban comedy "Set Off" (2008), "Shiqi" (2007) and "Nima's Women" (2007) that tell lives of the ethnic minorities, the touching "Walking to School" (2008), education-themed "Examination 1977" (2009) and " Deng Jiaxian" (2009) that tells the story of the "Father of the Bombs" in China.
