Taiwan singer Angela Chang, who is currently being accused by her parents for alleged unfilial treatment towards them, now seems to confront a much direr situation as her mother has hinted the singer may have been taking drugs.
Chang's mother expressed concern that her daughter, also known as Zhang Shaohan, may have been induced to take drugs by her friend called Jenny. The star's mother said she had warned her daughter to take care, do the right things and stay away from drugs and drinks, according to the latest report on Hong Kong's Next Magazine Wednesday.
The news threatening to smear Chang's public image has enraged her Agency, Linfair Records, which strongly condemns the groundless report and claims it will resort to legal means to protect the singer's lawful rights, according to news website Tom.com.
Angela Chang, 27, was reported to haven fallen out with her mother over a money issue and they now no longer live together.
Following the widespread reports of the tumultuous mother-daughter relationship that hit all the tabloids, Chang denied her mother's accusations and insisted she had tried her best to fulfill her duties as a daughter. She declined to have chased her mother out of her house.
Angela Zhang has been diagnosed with heart disease and went to Canada seeking treatment. Upon returning to Taiwan she said her mother had moved out without notice and taken all her money, amounting up to about 3 million US dollars.
Chang made her singing debut in 2001 and has released several successful albums like Over the Rainbow and Aurora. After a break of 18 months, she has returned with a brand new album "The 5th Season," due for release on September 25.
Some doubters have said the disagreement between Chang and her mother is simply media hype to warm the market up for her new album. However, both the singer and her Agency have denied.
